Happy Halloween! Today I finished reading the Scorch Trails by James Dashner, which is the second book in the Maze Runner series. If you haven't read the first book I would warn you not continue reading. Hope you enjoy!
~~~
Plot: Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.
In the Maze, life was easy. They had food, and shelter, and safety . . . until Teresa triggered the end. In the world outside the Maze, however, the end was triggered long ago.
Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated—and with it, order—and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim . . . and meal.
The Gladers are far from finished with running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
Thomas can only wonder—does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?
Review: It seemed like one man for themselves in this book. The problems were even more harder and scary then the last book. The characters did developed in this book in a way that scarred them for life. There are new and more horrific creatures like the Cranks and another creatures which didn't seem to have a name. It was confusing at times for why Wicked was hurting them and giving them so many problems. The writing was well done and just the idea was amazing. I give this book a 5/5 and I am looking forward to the 3rd book in this amazing series.
Demonglass (A Hex Hall Novel)
Rachel Hawkins
Young Adult
February 22, 2011
The first book, Hex Hall was filled will action, mystery, love, and a shocking secret. Those four things made me fall in love with the story. There were a few questions unanswered, but the ending of the first book didn't seem like it was going to be a series. I am happy there will be a second book and can't wait to get some of my questions answered and probably gain many more.
From Amazon:
Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.
That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.
Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.
But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Acher to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?
Summary:
Sixteen-Year-Old Jace Witherspoon arrives at the doorstep of his estranged brother Christian with a re-landscaped face (courtesy of his father’s fist), $3.84, and a secret.
He tries to move on, going for new friends, a new school, and a new job, but all his changes can’t make him forget what he left behind—his mother, who is still trapped with his dad, and his ex-girlfriend, who is keeping his secret.
At least so far.
Worst of all, Jace realizes that if he really wants to move forward, he may first have to do what scares him most: He may have to go back. First-time novelist Swati Avasthi has created a riveting and remarkably nuanced portrait of what happens after. After you’ve said enough, after you’ve run, after you’ve made the split—how do you begin to live again? Readers won’t be able to put this intense page-turner down.
Today I read from The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
Hello everyone! I finished reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. He has also wrote the Percy Jackson and the Olympain series and the Kane Chronicles series, which I have both read and enjoyed. This will not be a spoiler you haven't read his Percy Jackson series. Here is the review:
^^^^
Plot:Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she’s his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they’re all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for “bad kids.” What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea—except that everything seems very wrong.
Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, and her vivid nightmares reveal that he’s in terrible danger. Now her boyfriend doesn’t recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. What is going on?
Leo has a way with tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, and fine-looking girls. What’s troubling is the curse everyone keeps talking about, and that a camper’s gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist they are all—including Leo—related to a god.
Rick Riordan, the best-selling author of the Percy Jackson series, pumps up the action and suspense in The Lost Hero, the first book in The Heroes of Olympus series. Fans of demi-gods, prophesies, and quests will be left breathless--and panting for Book Two.
Review: The Lost Hero starts off with a bang and ends with a explosion. I never got bored when I was reading this book. The way Rick mixes Greek/Roman mythology with modern day is amazing. The ideas that he makes like Camp Half-Blood or demigods are fantastic. There wasn't one boring part is this story. Everything was fast paced and the timing was just right. I also enjoyed the new and old characters in this book. Jason was the most mysterious character in this book, since he lost his memory then it always made me wondering who could he really be and what happened to him to end up where he was, and the answer shocked me down to the very core. Piper also surprised me for who she was too and why her father disappeared. She was a brave, smart, and serious girl, but could be very nice as well. Leo made me laugh all the time. He always had a joke up his sleeve. He thought fast when he was in a sticky spot, but always found a way to get out of it. I give this book a 5/5.
I enjoyed the first book Dark Divine a lot. I have many questions for this book because of the way the first book ended. Since I am still not that used to this authors writing I am not sure what I will expect in this book. I did enjoy the characters and the idea of werewolves in this story and I hope you see more action, suspense, and romance.
From Barnes&Nobles:
The non-stop sequel to The Dark Divine delivers an even hotter romance and more thrilling action than Bree Despain's first novel. Grace Divine made the ultimate sacrifice to cure Daniel Kalbi. She gave her soul to the wolf to save him and lost her beloved mother. When Grace receives a haunting phone call from Jude, she knows what she must do. She must become a Hound of Heaven. Desparate to find Jude, Grace befriends Talbot - a newcomer to town who promises her that he can help her be a hero. But as the two grow closer, the wolf grows in Grace, and her relationship with Daniel begins to crumble. Unaware of the dark path she is walking, Grace becomes prideful in her new abilities - not realizing that an old enemy has returned and deadly trap is about to be sprung. Readers, raveous for more Grace and Daniel, will be itching to sink their teeth into The Lost Saint.
Hello! Today I finished reading Torment by Lauren Kate, which is the second book in the Fallen series. If you haven't read the first book Fallen I would not continue reading this review. Here is the review:
~~~~~~~~
Plot: Hell on earth.
That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel.
It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.
At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?
The second novel in the addictive FALLEN series . . . where love never dies.
Review: I enjoyed Torment, but it reminded me way to much of the first book. Just like in the first book Luce is at a new school, with new classmates, same problems with boys, and a bang at the end of the story. There is a difference this year that she isn't as afraid as the shadows as she was in the first book, but the aspect of it didn't change. I was happy to learn more of Luce and Daniel's past with one another and also to meet new characters like Miles and Shelby. Miles was a extremely caring and sweet boy to everyone, it seemed like he would do anything for Luce. Shelby was mean sometimes, but deep down she did care for Luce and everyone else. I also enjoyed the older characters like Arriane, Cam, Daniel, Molly, and many more joining the second book. I give this book a 4/5.

Misguided Angel (Blue Blood series #5)
Melissa de la Cruz
Young Adult
October 26, 2010
I am looking forward to Misguided Angel. I enjoyed the first four books in this series. The characters are well developed and the idea of the vampires is very creative. I know this isn't the last book in the series, which I am happy about, because I love to never stop reading about these characters. I do know there will be a lot of suspense in this book, but mostly I suspect that it would just lead up to the last book in the series, which will have the most action and suspense.
From Barnes&Nobles:
After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler fled to Florence--with her forbidden love, Jack. Now the two of them must embark on the mission Schuyler was destined to complete: to find and protect the seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer, lord of the Silverbloods.
As the Blue Blood enclave weakens yet further, fate leads Schuyler closer to a terrifying crossroads--and a choice that will determine the destiny of all vampires.

My Teaser: "That is, if you need family therapy." Shelby sighed "Sorry, who's talking about themselves again?" She raised her hand, then slowly puts it down.

Hello, I finished reading ARC Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick, which is the second book in the Hush, Hush series. If you haven't read the first book Hush, Hush then I would not continue reading. Crescendo will be available on Oct. 19, 2010. Here is my review on Crescendo:
^^^^^
Plot: Nora Grey should have known her life was far from perfect. Even though her boyfriend, Patch, also happens to be her literal guardian angel (who, despite the title, is far from angelic), things are not looking up. First there is summer school and facing the nightmare of her enemy Marcie Millar as her lab partner. Then Patch starts to pull away with no explanation. And finally, she is having nightmares and visions about her father's murder.
As Nora chooses to ignore her better instincts and delves deeper into the mystery of hr father's death, she also begins to question whether her Nephilim bloodline had something to do with it, which casts more doubt on her relationship (or lack thereof) with Patch. Does he know more than he lets on? Why does he always seem to be standing in front of the answers she is looking for? And if he really is her guardian angel, why is her life always in danger?
Review: In this book Nora is having a hard time who to trust. Everywhere she turns there is always trouble right near her, just ready to take her away. In this book there are a lot of shocking, scary, interesting things that happen. Becca makes you think something once and then twists it completely different the next time.
The suspense leading up to who her father's killer made me guessing the whole time. Patch is very confusing in this book at what he wants and Nora is the same way. There is also a new character in this book named Scott, who I enjoyed the most. The other characters also develope in different ways as well in this story, which I liked. The ending was amazing and now I am looking forward to the next book in the series, called Tempest. I give Crescendo 4.5/5.

FOREVER (Wolves of Mercy Falls series #3)
Maggie Stiefvater
Young Adult
July 21, 2011
I am not sure what is going to happen in this book. I am guessing that there will be more of Cole and a lot more of Sam. I am really looking forward to what Sam is going to do to save Grace and if he'll ever find help at all. I would like a lot more romance between Cole and Isabel, and hopefully Cole will also help himself along the way.
From Amazon:
In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. In Linger, they fought to be together. Now, in Forever, the stakes are even higher then they were before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in.
Nourishing The Need is a blog feature, which I really wnat to start doing. I decided to show books that have just been released or are going to this month that I will be either buy, reviewing, or both.
Good 'Evening. Are you ready for some spooks? Today I finished the horror story, The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff. Hope you enjoy it and I hope you don't get to scared. Here is the review:
*****
Plot:
Mackie Doyle is
The Replacement.
Mackie is not one of us. Though he lives in a small town of Gentry, he comes from a world of tunnels and black murky water, a world of living dead girls ruled by a little tattooed princess. He is a Replacement-left is the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is slowly dying in the human world.
Mackie would give anything to life among us. He just wants to play bass guitar and find out more about oddly intriguing girl named Tate.
But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem.
He must face the dark creatures of the slag heaps and find his rightful place in our world, or theirs.
Review:
This book gave me the creeps. I have been waiting for a long time to read a good horror book and now I finally got my chance. The Replacement starts off normal, but just by the next page I was scared. The history of Gentry is very weird, but interesting at the same time. In this story their are supernatural creatures that are hard to understand, but are still amazing to read about. Mackie is a very brave, smart, and loving person that I had fun reading about. Tate is one of the most strongest female characters I have ever read in a book. She would never back down from a fight, even if it cost her her life. There are many, many scary and creepy characters in this book that just made my skin crawl just thinking about how they would look like. The problem was way different then any other book I have ever read. The blood, guts, and creepy smiles truly made this story a horror book I couldn't out down. For the horror that scared me half to death and made me guessing for more I am very happy to give this book a 5/5 (Excellent/The best a book can get!). So if your bored and feel like you want to get spooked, then if I were you I would go and buy The Replacement.
