Magic is dangerous-but
love is more dangerous still.
When sixteen-year-0ld Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks, and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, who are members of the secret organization called the Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability; the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother is she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herslef fascinated by -an torn between- two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arms length... everyone, that is, but Tessa.
As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world... and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
Review:
Reading Cassandra Clare's writing again was a joy. I give this book a 5/5. To learn about the new characters was fantastic and to see people from her other series was amazing, to learn more about them has no words for how great it was. The problem in this story was different and very interesting then the last series she made and I enjoyed it very much. Tessa was a great main character and I loved how she was strong even when things looked at its worst, I was also surprised at how fast a thinking she could be in this story. Jem was amazing and very kind to everyone. The mysterious that Jem has is very interesting to me and probably will be to anyone who reads this book. Finally there is Will would makes rude comments here and there, but keeps me laughing through the whole book right to the very end. Will has his own mystery which I'm still guessing on and hope to find out more in the next book, which I am look exctremely foward to.
